Costa Victoria Cruise 2016 Review - Dining at Fantasia Restaurant

Our first dinner on-board was at Fantasia Restaurant and it will be free seating for the first day. As an overview to the quality of the food, it was really mass-produced and could not even be compared to Royal Carribean Mariner of the Seas.

Also, the food variety in Ala-Carte seatings and buffet seatings are all the same. Do expect longer serving times in Ala-Carte seating as we saw a couple stormed off angrily after waiting for too long.

Day 1 Ala Carte Dinner:
Overview:

They would prepare ready-made food on displays in front of the restaurants everyday and you can decide which to choose! I feel it is of nice gesture for them to do so, especially for bloggers like me!

Appetizers & Salads:
The bread, turkey and salad were tasty. The breaded fish fingers were pretty dry and tasteless.

Soups:

Both soups tasted the same, just that they were with different ingredients. The garlic herb croutons has prawns, squids and chicken cube which tasted better than the legumes soup. However, the prawn was not fresh and tasted very mushy.

Pasta and Noodles:
Penne with smoke salmon tasted okay but they could add more sauce though.
Stir fried seafood rice noodle does not have much seafood in it and I swear our fried meehoon at hawker centres tasted 10x better!

Main Course: I tried a bit of each from my family's plate and here are the verdicts! :P
Pan fry sea bass has bones in it but it tasted the best out of all, even though it is pretty dry and tasteless as well. Marinated lamb stew was okay, some meats were tough but some were tender.
Fried rice was normal.  Oven roasted BBQ chicken was dry.
Didn't order the beef pasta and the grilled vegetables and cheese gratin was good!

Desserts:
The desserts would have been much better if served really cold! It was served at room temperature.

Day 2 Gala Dinner:
You would be given a dining card in your room before your dinner on Day 2 and it looks like this:
Appetizers & Salads:

If I were to be asked to choose, the shredded chicken tasted better than the breaded fried cheese.

Soups:

My mum's pumpkin soup tasted better and hot and sour soup is just not to my liking.

Pasta & Noodles:

Gnochhi pasta was something new but it was not to my liking either. The stir fried noodles were tasteless.

Main Course:

They call it wok fried crab with spicy ginger chilli sauce. Basically it is just Snow crab with Chilli crab sauce. The sauce was good and you can have unlimited servings of this. I requested for a pair of scissors and they gave me the utensil on the right, which means you need quite a bit of patience indulging in this dish! :P

Did not try the grilled beef steak and the deep fried lemon chicken was good.

Did not try both.

Indian:

My mum tried this and she said it was good! I wonder why they always have a dedicated Indian section?

Desserts:

Desserts were alright. I am ticked and tricked by the ones they have on displays on the ones they served to us!

It was supposed to be a Swan on display but we were served the swan without the head.

There were supposed to be honeydew melon and sago pearls but ours is just plain milk!
